1/6th Lambretta Model Stand
Back in 2022/2023 Tim Draper set a page on facebook for a project that he had been working on, a realistic 3D model of a Lambretta GP/DL for rendering. His page quickly sparked peoples attention and created a cult following. Then back in early 2024 Tim decided to set up a waiting list on a first come first served basis for gen pop to take ownership of their very own 3D printed model to build and paint to their hearts content. Fortunatly here at casa JL serial number 001 arrived and as soon as there was some downtime from everything else adulting in life and scooters I got busy modelling. A former work colleague and all round modelling exroardinaire Mr Tony 'JUGS' Juggins, now enjoing his well deserved retirment had kitted me out with all of the best of the best modelling equipment I would need to get me going.
As a CAD engineer and Draughtsman by trade, I use CAD and 3D printers on a daily basis for rapid prototyping etc. Recently, I picked up a brand new printer for myself, and have been busy creating all sorts of things. One of those was a Lambretta Stand, Based on original Innocenti Technical Drawings that we have here in the Archives, I printed one off for myself. Since then I have strengthened my design to include 2mm wall thickness with a 15% sparce infill and a 3mm top surface, these are printed on a textured print bed, which I feel gives a nice uniformed finish all over. You can leave your stand as is or customise / paint it however you want. I opted to paint the embosed Lambretta Logo in chrome to make it pop or for expamle you could paint yours Innocenti blue with white lettering like Innocenti' original trade stands in the '60's, yopu may recall that fellow collector Mark Richo has on occasion used his original trade stand at custom shows such as Bridlington over the years. As with anything that is additive printed there is an element of finishing off required.
